Program Summary
This presentation explores the significant opportunity to expand charitable giving beyond cash and publicly traded securities to include complex assets such as privately held business interests, real estate, and other non-traded assets. Drawing industry research and experts, it highlights the concentration of complex asset donations among a relatively small number of charitable organizations and the untapped potential for broader acceptance of non-cash donations. The presentation examines the challenges associated with these gifts, including valuation, due diligence, tax considerations, and organizational readiness. Finally, it outlines how philanthropic institutions, financial advisors, and donors can work together to develop effective gift acceptance policies, build operational capabilities, and unlock new opportunities for charitable giving.
